Wood Characteristics and Uses
Colour: Heartwood is yellowish to reddish-brown; sapwood is pale yellow to nearly white
Grain: Prominent, with resinous streaks; straight to slightly uneven
Density: Hard, strong, and heavy compared with most softwoods
Durability: Naturally resinous, giving moderate decay resistance
Workability: Machines and nails well but can be resinous; takes finishes and stains beautifully
