American Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) — also called Douglas-fir — is one of North America’s most important and iconic conifer species. Despite its name, it is not a true fir (Abies), but a member of its own genus, Pseudotsuga.
Native range: Western North America—from British Columbia and Alberta south through the Pacific Northwest to central California, and inland to the Rocky Mountains and northern Mexico
